CBSE has announced a revised assessment scheme for Class 10 students in the UAE and other Middle East countries after cancelling the remaining main examinations in the region.

In a notification issued on March 18, the board said it had reviewed the prevailing situation in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE before taking the decision. CBSE said the results of Middle East candidates will be declared along with those of the rest of the students.

Exams completed

The board said examinations scheduled between February 17 and February 28 were conducted successfully. During that period, 44 papers were completed, including six academic subjects, 16 languages and 22 skill subjects.

CBSE said students who appeared in all examinations will be assessed on the basis of their performance in those papers. Students who appeared in four examinations will have the remaining subjects evaluated on the average of the best three performing subjects. For students who appeared in three examinations, the average of the best two performing subjects will be used for the subjects whose exams were not conducted. Students who appeared in only two examinations will have the remaining subjects calculated on the average of those two papers.

Internal assessment

The board said internal assessment marks already uploaded by schools will be taken into account in the final results. CBSE added that internal assessment is a year-long exercise that has already been completed, and the same will be used as uploaded by schools.

CBSE also set out separate provisions for students registered in 2025 or earlier for up to two subjects. If such students appeared in one or two of their registered examinations, their results will be declared on the basis of performance. If any examination remains left, they will be allowed to appear in the second board examinations. Students who changed their examination centre to another country will have their results declared on the basis of their performance in those examinations.

Final declaration

The board said the result prepared under the assessment scheme will be final, and no special examination will be conducted beyond the board’s declared policy. CBSE also said the Class 12 assessment scheme will be communicated separately once decided.
