Motorist Alert: Speed Limits Reduced on Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road (E22) & E30 Starting Feb 9

Abu Dhabi new speed limits introduced under traffic rules 2026

Abu Dhabi new speed limits will come into force from February 9, with authorities confirming reduced maximum speeds on several major arterial roads across the emirate. The changes are part of wider traffic safety measures under Abu Dhabi Mobility traffic rules 2026, targeting high-speed corridors with heavy daily use.

Motorists using routes such as the Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road speed limit corridor, Al Rawdah Road E30, and sections of E22 Road in Abu Dhabi are advised to adjust their driving behaviour ahead of enforcement.

Speed Limit Reductions on Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road

Significant changes apply to E22, one of the busiest highways linking the capital with Al Ain.

On the Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road speed limit stretch between Al Nahda Interchange and Bani Yas Interchange, the maximum speed will be reduced from 160 km/h to 140 km/h in both directions.

From Bani Yas Interchange to the Bridge Complex, the limit will be lowered from 140 km/h to 120 km/h. Updated road signage is being installed ahead of the February 9 implementation date.

Revised Limits on Al Rawdah Road E30

The Al Rawdah Road E30 speed limit will also see a cut, affecting daily commuters and inter-emirate traffic.

Authorities confirmed that the maximum allowable speed on E30 will be reduced from 120 km/h to 100 km/h, covering both inbound and outbound lanes. The road connects several residential zones and sees consistent peak-hour volumes.

Enforcement under Abu Dhabi Mobility Traffic Rules 2026

The changes fall under Abu Dhabi Mobility traffic rules 2026, with officials stating that the revised limits are based on detailed traffic studies, accident data, and vehicle density trends.

Speed cameras and automated enforcement systems will be recalibrated to reflect the new limits from February 9. Motorists exceeding posted speeds will be subject to standard fines and penalties under existing UAE traffic regulations.

Authorities have urged drivers to rely on fixed signage rather than their previous driving habits, particularly on highways where higher limits were previously allowed.

Official Advisory to Motorists

Drivers are advised to remain alert to new road signs and digital boards as the Abu Dhabi speed limit change on February 9 approaches. Transport officials have indicated that further road safety updates may be introduced as part of long-term mobility planning.

The measures aim to improve flow consistency and reduce severe accidents while maintaining efficient movement across Abu Dhabi’s expanding road network.
