Dubai Delivery Bike Registration Extended to 5 Years Under New RTA Inspection Standards

Dubai delivery bike registration extension approval at RTA office

Dubai delivery bike registration has been extended by one year under new technical inspection standards introduced by the emirate’s transport authority. The decision allows eligible delivery motorcycles to operate for a fifth year after completing four years in service.

The announcement was made by Dubai’s transport regulator as part of updated rules governing the fast-growing delivery sector.

Dubai Delivery Bike Registration Now Valid for Fifth Year

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that delivery motorcycles may renew registration beyond the four-year limit if they pass a newly approved inspection.

Until now, delivery bikes were capped at a maximum operational age of four years. With the latest change, companies can apply to extend Dubai delivery bike registration for an additional year, taking the total operational period to five years.

The extension is conditional. Only motorcycles that meet defined technical and safety requirements will qualify.

RTA said the inspection standards were developed in line with international best practices. The checks are designed to ensure continued roadworthiness and compliance with safety benchmarks before approval is granted.

While the inspection process itself is optional, it becomes mandatory for companies that want the fifth-year registration approval.

Motorcycles that fail to meet the criteria will not receive the extension.

Application and Approval Process

Delivery companies must apply through their corporate account on the RTA website.

The steps include:

  • Selecting the “Delivery Bikes Operational Life Extension” service
  • Identifying motorcycles that have completed four years
  • Completing inspection at designated RTA-approved testing centres

Registration for the fifth year will only be issued after successful inspection clearance.

The service is currently available through RTA digital platforms and authorised inspection centres across Dubai.

Khaled Mohammed Saleh, Director of Commercial Transport Activities at RTA, said the initiative is part of efforts to regulate and organise Dubai’s expanding delivery market.

“The delivery sector has recorded accelerated growth in recent years. The technical inspection initiative supports this growth, enhances service quality and customer experience, improves the safety of riders and road users, reduces operating costs for companies, and increases operational efficiency.” he noted.

The decision takes immediate effect for eligible delivery motorcycles operating in the emirate.
